When evaluating end-of-the-world scenarios, two main factors come into play: humanity’s chances of survival and how enjoyable (or terrifying) the experience would actually be while it lasts.
S-Tier: High-Octane Thrills & Mutual Destruction
Taking top honors in S-Tier are the Zombie Outbreak, Viral Plague / Pandemic, and Nuclear Warfare scenarios.
- Zombie Outbreak: Easily the most ‘fun’ apocalypse. Bunkering down with friends, scavenging supplies, and defending your base feels like playing a real-life Minecraft server or survival game.
- Viral Plague: Severe, but humanity has a solid track record of surviving pandemics and creating vaccines—unless, of course, the virus turns people into zombies!
- Nuclear Apocalypse: The ultimate equalizer. Whether used as a last resort against zombies or triggered by human conflict, nukes bring instant, cinematic obliteration.
F-Tier: Total Hopelessness
At the absolute bottom sits AI Takeover / Robot Uprising. Unlike biological plagues or slow-moving zombies, an artificial intelligence singularity leaves humanity with zero chance.
